Bathroom Bold and Blue

The Brief

The client had a clear and precise vision for their new bathroom, including a detailed selection of all the products they intended to use. STUDIO42 was hired specifically for the Project Management and Procurement aspects of this project. The redesigned bathroom featured a wetback shower, necessitating Building Consent, Council Inspections, and a CCC (Code Compliance Certificate) Application, all of which were incorporated into the Designer's responsibilities.

The Work

  • Client meeting to discuss at what stage of the project they were at, and what they needed from the Designer

  • Site visit - dimensions for as-built plan and layout options

  • Concept Design proposal

  • Final Client Approved Design package

  • Building Consent lodgements

  • Multiple site visits during the renovation

  • Sourcing and arranging of quotes and installation for all work that required LBPs and other sub-contractors

  • Engaging client approved sub-contractors

  • Procurement and delivery of all floor finishes and bathroom fittings and fixtures

  • Lodgement of CCC Application with Council

The Result

A newly renovated bathroom, designed in a classic style, features a striking blue vanity, serving as a homage to the color scheme employed in the Laundry area

Originally, the client aimed for a straightforward replacement, maintaining the existing room layout. However, upon reviewing the Concept Design proposed by the Designer, it became evident that altering the layout would significantly enhance the room's flow and spatial utilization. In the revamped design, the existing vanity mirror along with other finishes were selected for inclusion. To minimize clutter on the shower floor, recessed shelves were cleverly integrated into the shower area. The standout feature of this redesign is the striking blue vanity, painted in Resene Space Cadet, which serves as the focal point of the space.
